About Lambda Alpha:
The purpose of Lambda Alpha on a national level is to encourage and stimulate scholarship and research in Anthropology by recognizing and honoring superior achievement in the discipline among students, faculty and other persons engaged in the study of Anthropology.

Our chapter strives to enhance the experience of Anthropology majors at UCSB.  This year we will be holding our Annual Induction Ceremony, putting out an Anthropology newsletter, beginning a mentor program for new Anthropology majors, creating an Anthropology reading room and much more.

2004-2004 Charity:
Giving back to the community is an important aspect of any Honors Society.  We have chosen a charity that reflects cultural sensitivities - Heifer International.  They are recognized as a world leader in using animals to address hunger and poverty through ecologically sound, sustainable agriculture.  We will not be giving "charity", we will be enabling needy villages with the means to help themselves.
