Meeting on Monday January 22nd 2007
Topics Discussed:
I want to thank everyone
who showed up today to the meeting.
I also want to welcome
Sommer Mneimne who joined us today. Welcome to the Club :).
Here is what we talked
about:
- Wednesday January
24th at 6 PM: MOVIE Night: Channels of Rage at the MCC It is important
for us to be there. Be there and take your friends. It is going to be huge.
Tell your friends about it
- Friday February
2nd from 1 to 4 PM: The Middle East in Crisis A series of panels about
Iraq, Palestine, and Lebanon. Very interesting stuff and a great way to
spend a Friday afternoon. It is going to be on the 6th floor of the HSSB
(McCune Room).
- Saturday February
3rd at 9 PM: Catharine's Birthday Party. You are invited. Contact us for
details and potential carpools.
- Saturday February
10th at 10 AM: Street Cleanup. A great way to make money for the club.
15 people who show up, work for 2 hours, and make the club $100. It is going
to be A LOT of fun. Bring your friends
- Saturday February
24th at 9 AM: Hike/Picnic Day. Finally, a club outing. This date may
change depending on the weather. If it is sunny, we are going. In our
attempt to fight obesity in the US, the Lebanese Club is going out on a
hike, then, to fight hunger, we are going to eat (a lot). The Club will pick
up the tab for the picnic and maybe $5 for gas for whoever drives and takes
people along. So be there for the free food. We will car pool, park, hike
for a few hours, take pictures and have fun, then go down and eat in a park.
Bring your friends.
- Friday March 9th
at 9 PM: Middle Eastern Party. YUP, the highlight
of the quarter!!. It is going to be great. Details will be on the website
soon. The members are asked for a couple of things: Decorations and
soliciting the residence halls in which they live to ask for money. It
should be easy. Let me know if you live in a dorm. I'll give you the papers
and everything, you just have to talk and ask for money. We will also be
performing our Dabke.
- Saturday March
10th at 8 PM: Middle Eastern Ensemble. We will performance our dabke
dance in front of the Middle Eastern Ensemble Audience. That should be great
:)
Now, you can see that we
have A LOT of things to do. You can also see that most are effort-free. You
just have to show up. So please show up. We are here to have fun.
So far 13 people
expressed interest in the Dabke. We will practice every Monday until the
event date. Wanna join? Let us know. Dabke wise, we will be getting
costumes so that we look professional. The club will also pay for that.
So, no more meetings for
the quarter EXCEPT for one meeting a week before the main event. That week,
we will be handing out flyers and doing some tabling and the decorations.
Anyway, stay tuned for more information as the quarter goes. Check the
website soon, and check the Facebook group.
No more meetings SINCE
we will be meeting socially almost every week of the quarter. Who wants to
hear me talk anyway?
Finally, the Lebanese
Club needs new Leadership. Please contact us if you are interested in being
a part of the club's leadership. You will be mentored and helped throughout
the process. The transition should be easy and smooth since we did establish
a very good machine and we have everything the new leaders need to make the
club flourish.
