1. UCLA Charity Dinner tomorrow, October 15. There is a suggested donation
of 15$. The donations go to the Red Cross Lebanese Relief Fund. Please check
the forum to see who is going so that you can offer/get a ride.
(As it stands, I think
we are going to cancel the planned trip to LA, as of Saturday Afternoon)
2. Tuesday October 17, Dinner at Zaytoun's
This will replace our usual "class setting" meeting. We are planning to be
there at 8:00 pm. RSVP so that we can have a headcount. Yusef told us it is
happy hours so the prices are reduced. Please use the forum to offer or ask
for a ride there.
3. Wednesday October 18: Activities Fair Storke Plaza
We need volunteers to fill up slots for tabling from 10am-2pm. Hoda
suggested that we sell "Rebuild peace, renew hope" bracelets, the "suggested
donations" of which will go to UNICEF. The bracelets will be selling at 3$ a
piece and we are planning to sell 30 bracelets.
4. Diana is hosting interested members of the club at her spot this Saturday
October 21. Location and time will be updated very soon.
Events under planning:
1. There is an International Food Fair coming up. We are planning to have a
small menu including hummos among other stuff. All the food has to be
prepared in the university kitchen as part of the university policy. We
will discuss the menu later. We will also discuss the plans to prepare the
food later.
The event date
is Wednesday November 15th.
2. A documentary film night
about Lebanon. Rami has 3 DVDs about Lebanon. Maybe
we can plan to play them for the campus community.
3. A lecture with a political speaker. We will seek the help of the Center
for Middle East Studies. Elias and Eddie will be working on this event.
4. Fundraising: Shoreline Preservation Fund. Thalia and Hasan are
coordinating this event. Find more information about this on the club
website. We need ten volunteers to sign up for a four hour slot . It
is very easy to get about $100. The more we request, the harder the work
will be. Details a little bit later
5. There is a "festival of Arabic Speaking" people coming up. Eddie will get
back to us with the location, time, and details of the event.
6. I will see what we can do to spread our influence to SBCC.
7. Middle Eastern Ensembles : The is a
quick performance on Wednesday October 18th (next week) in front of the
Music department at noon. But we will be busy with the Activities Fair. So
