Sixth Annual Conference on Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics

February 26-27, 2004

The 6th Annual Graduate Student Conference on Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics will be hosted by the Graduate Student Organization of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California at Santa Barbara.  This conference is organized by graduate students in order to give other graduate students an opportunity to share their current work.

We welcome submissions of papers on all topics related to Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics. Submissions of panels are also encouraged (not to exceed three papers). In the spirit of Carnival, we do encourage papers that deal with issues of gender, sexuality, eroticism, hybridism, passing, performance, spectatorship and subversion. 

Paper Format:

Please keep in mind that papers should not exceed a reading period of twenty minutes (8 pages) in order to allow sufficient time for discussion.  The papers may written and presented in Spanish, Portuguese or English.

Abstract Information:

Abstracts should be approximately 250 words in length. The abstract page should consist of only the title of the paper and the written abstract. Please, do not include any personal information on the abstract. On a separate page, Please include the following information:  title of your presentation, name, e-mail address, institution address, office and home phone numbers.
