Below are directions from LA International Airport and Santa Barbara Airport as well as directions on where to park and how to locate the Humanities and Social Science Building (HSSB), the University Center (UCEN) and the specific rooms in the UCEN the rountable sessions will be held. Please print out the map from the link above.

DIRECTIONS FROM LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

We recommend the Santa Barbara Airbus, particularly if you must return to LAX for your departing flight. The Airbus is reliable, and offers a reasonable round-trip fare of approximately $60 (prepaid). The nearest Airbus drop-off point to the UCSB campus is 5755 Thornwood Drive, in Goleta. If we have not arranged for someone to pick you up, you'll need to call a cab, or the hotel shuttle (if available) for delivery to your local destination.
If you are driving from LAX, exit the airport lot at Sepulveda Blvd., and follow Sepulveda Blvd. to the 405 North Freeway entrance. Follow 405 North to 101 North (Ventura Freeway). Remain on the 101 (for approximately one and a half hours) into Santa Barbara. Proceed through Santa Barbara and north for approximately 10 miles. Exit at the "UCSB/Ward Memorial" (Highway 217) offramp. Follow the signs onto campus. At the campus entrance, ask the kiosk attendant for directions to the HSSB, or see map below.

FROM SANTA BARBARA AIRPORT

Metro Bus #11 can be picked up from the airport at the bus stop on the parking lot side of Fairview ave. It runs about every half hour and goes directly to the bus circle at UCSB. Bus schedules are available at the airport. Fare: $1

"Yellow Cab" at 965-5111. Cab fare should be about $10; if you use the cabs at the airport, the fare is around $20.

If you are renting a car at the airport, turn right as you exit the rental car lot, onto William Moffet Lane. Follow the signs onto campus. It is less than a five-minute drive. At the campus entrance, ask the kiosk attendant for directions to the HSSB, or see map below.

If you are staying at the Goleta Holiday Inn or Pacifica Suites, use the airport courtesy phone to call for transportation to these hotels. We will be providing transportation to these two hotels before and after Friday and Saturday conference events. (Those staying at the Best Western South Coast Inn should contact Dave Fearon, fearon1@home.com to coordinate with the Holiday Inn transportation.)

ON CAMPUS PARKING

If you drive onto the campus you may park in designated lots only, in parking spaces marked C. Parking for the HSSB building and McCune conference room are in lots #27, #21, #22, or #23. (See map below)
The fee charged for parking is $5.00 per day. As you enter campus at the West or East Gate, ask the parking attendant in the kiosk for a parking pass and map of the designated lots.

FINDING HSSB AND THE McCUNE CONFERENCE ROOM

The Humanities Social Sciences Building is a modern 6 story building. Coming from the parking lots listed above, use the enterance into the main tower. (To your right will be the industrial gray tetrahedral Events Center, and to your left a parking lot intersection with traffic lights.) Take the elevator to the 6th floor. Take a right and the McCune room is at the end of the hall, with doors to the left and right of the hallway intersection.

FINDING THE UNIVERSITY CENTER (UCEN)

The Roundtables will mostly be held in the University Center. The UCEN is located directly downhill from a 10 story tower (Storke Tower, the tallest building on campus). The conference rooms are located on the first level and the level below.
