2007 Audition Info is here!! First round of auditions will be held Tuesday and Thursday during week two of fall quarter. Come either day and sign up for a 5 minute time slot. Come early to pick the slot that fits your schedule as early times fill up quickly. For the preliminary audition, we simply want to hear your voice. Show off for us by preparing a short (1 minute or less) section from a popular song in the pop/rock/r&b genre. This usually consists of a verse and a chorus. Showtunes, musical theatre and jazz are discouraged, but if you choose that, make sure you bring something else thats more aligned with our style (see repertoire). If we feel like we need to hear more, we may ask you to sing some scales or vocalises to test your ear and your range. There will also be an information sheet for you to fill out. Not enough info? see this sheet written by a naked voices alum Callbacks will be the following: At callbacks we will see how you learn music in our group, and how well you interact in a rehearsal enviornment. Here, good sight reading ability is obviously an advantage but is not at all a requirement. In fact, only a few of us are music majors. Reading is important, but more important is how quickly you can learn the music by reading or by hearing the parts from the piano. You’ll learn (we'll teach you) one of our songs, and then sing it for us in small groups of other auditioners. Above all, be yourself and show us that you love to sing! We’ll also ask you to prepare another short solo, preferably a contrasting style to your first audition. Good luck, and thanks for your interest |
