AEPhi was founded at Barnard College in 1909 by seven Jewish women who were denied membership to other sororities based on their religion. These women founded Alpha Epsilon Phi, a sisterhood which openly welcomes women based upon their quality of character and personality, regardless of religion, race, or ethnicity. From these fundamental values of acceptance and sincerity, AEPhi has become a safe haven and close-knit family to all of its sisters.
