Losing It: All About Virginity

  • Most people would agree that a virgin is a male or female that has never had penetrative penile/vaginal sex

  • However, this definition leaves out members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender) community who often define the loss of virginity as having oral, anal, or manual sex with someone of the same sex.

  • “Virgin” or not, it is very important to use condoms and dental dams to help prevent you or your partner from getting an STI.

  • It is important to remember that not everyone is having sex at UCSB. Almost ¼ of UCSB students report having never engaged in sexual activity.

  • Remaining a virgin has advantages such as no risk of pregnancy, a decreased risk of STI transmission, and the opportunity to uphold your personal sexual values.

  • Everyone has their own sexual values, and should be praised for following them.
