Losing It: All About Virginity
Most people would agree that a virgin is a male or female that has never had penetrative penile/vaginal sex
However, this definition leaves out members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, and Transgender) community who often define the loss of virginity as having oral, anal, or manual sex with someone of the same sex.
“Virgin” or not, it is very important to use condoms and dental dams to help prevent you or your partner from getting an STI.
It is important to remember that not everyone is having sex at UCSB. Almost ¼ of UCSB students report having never engaged in sexual activity.
Remaining a virgin has advantages such as no risk of pregnancy, a decreased risk of STI transmission, and the opportunity to uphold your personal sexual values.
Everyone has their own sexual values, and should be praised for following them.
