• Sex toys have been around for thousands of years!

• First documented use of a dildo was in Ancient Greece. It was originally an Olisbos, made from stone, leather, or wood.

• The olisbo then became diletto (“delight”) in Renaissance Italy.

• The rubber dildo and the vibrator was introduced in the mid 19th century.

• Vibrators were then used as treatment for hysteria in women.

• Vibrators were first marketed as massagers, when it was improper for women to use them for sexual pleasure.

• Recently, sex toys have become more popular as acceptance of them has grown.
