NOTE #4: Sad News about Wendy DiRodio. We are all deeply saddened and shocked by the recent senseless and brutal murder of one our beloved Santa Barbara dancers, Wendy DiRodio. If you would like to post an on-line tribute to her family, or view photos of Wendy at recent Santa Barbara Swing Dance events, you may do so at this Special Wendy Web Site, courtesy of santabarbara.com’s John Dickson.

NOTE #5: Sad News about Frankie Manning. Frankie Manning, the Legendary Master and Ambassador of the Lindy Hop, passed away peacefully in the morning on Monday April 27th, of complications from pneumonia. He was one month away from his 95th birthday, which was going to be celebrated in New York City by thousands of dedicated Lindy Hop fans. Frankie was an inspiration to everyone who met him, and his enthusiasm and smile were as infectious as the energy of the music and the Lindy Hop. More information can be found at the Frankie’s 95th Birthday Web Site, or at the Frankie Manning Web Site.

NOTE #6: SBDC Membership Pricing Policy:. Beginning January 2009, SBDC RENEWAL Membership fees have been reduced to: $10 for students per quarter; $15 for non-students per quarter. The $20 New SBDC Membership fees still apply. ALSO, there will now be a one-time-only per quarter “Drop-In Fee” of $5, for anyone who has already visited the SBDC at least one time, and wishes to attend another SBDC event without having to join as a new member for $20 (or re-join as a renewing member for $10/$15). This will be especially beneficial for people who are visiting the UCSB area for a short period of time. Note: these fees will be subject to change. There is NO FEE for any SUMMER SBDC activity.

The SBDC Web Site was updated by Steve Carlan on 7/2/2009.
