This is the SBDC activities bulletin for the week of 8/25/2008.
SWING and BALLROOM DANCE CLUB Weekly Meetings (SUMMER 2008 INFO)
1. SBDC Club Practice Meetings will be held weekly throughout summer (June to September) in the Robertson Gym Room 2320 (upstairs), on THURSDAY nights, beginning JUNE 19th. Schedule: June 19th through September 4th, 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Watch for schedule change announcements.
2. There is no charge for participating in any of the summer SBDC activities! Just come and dance! Totally FREE.
3. The weekly practice meeting will be used for open dancing, practicing, socializing, or learning new steps.
4. Reminder: UCSB enforces nighttime/weekend parking in all lots. The closest parking lot to Robertson Gym is now in the “Mesa Parking Garage” (East of Rob Gym). UCSB enforces nighttime/weekend parking in all lots. $3 per night, or $12 for 30-day nighttime permit.

** SBDC Summer 2008: THURSDAY NIGHTS Open Dancing, Beginning THURSDAY JUNE 19th. The SBDC will have THURSDAY NIGHTS OPEN DANCING! Totally FREE! At UCSB Robertson Gym Room 2320 (upstairs). There is NO Membership Fee for any SBDC Summer activities. Just come and dance! Bring your friends. Schedule: June 19th through September 4th, Rob Gym Room 2320, 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Watch for upcoming announcements of schedule changes.
** NEW Saturday Night Dances Format, Beginning August 2008. Carrillo Recreation Center Ballroom. NEW Time: 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with a dance lesson from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. One dance per night. Each Saturday of the month has a different “theme” (Country, Tango, International Ballroom, American Ballroom, etc.). Recorded/DJ music only.
** Hold the Date: Saturday September 27th, 2008. The SBDC will be holding a SPECIAL “Back To School Swing Dance”, featuring the legendary Swing, Blues, and Boogie-Woogie of Rob Rio and His Revolvers. This will be held from 9:00 pm to 12:00 midnight, in UCSB Student Resources Building (room 1112). This dance will be FREE for Everyone! The SBDC will be providing light refreshments. There will be a free introductory Swing Dance Lesson at 8:00 pm, prior to the dance. No partners needed. All ages OK. Bring your friends, too. (Co-Sponsored by the UCSB OSL After Dark Program).
** SBDC 3rd ANNUAL DANCE CRUISE! HURRY: LAST WEEKS TO SIGN UP!
The Swing and Ballroom Dance Club at UCSB will be holding its 3rd Annual Dance Cruise in December 2008! This SBDC Dance Cruise will be for 8-days to the Mexican Riviera, December 14 - 22, 2008, aboard the Carnival Spirit. The Spirit departs from San Diego with 3 stops at Manzanillo, Acapulco, and Ixtapa, Mexico, and 4 days "at-sea". As before, we will plan to have on-board dance classes and open dance practices during the 4 days at sea. We plan to have one or more dance instructors aboard with us to teach dance classes.
Check out these rates! They are lower than last year’s 7-day cruise! Typical prices per person, based on double occupancy: Inside Cabin (Category 4A, 185 sq ft) -- $510; Ocean View Cabin (Category 6A, 185 sq ft) -- $590; Balcony Cabin (Category 8A, 185 sq ft) -- $710; + more choices available.
Not including: Port Charges and Taxes (per person) $274, on-board Gratuities (per person) $80, or optional Travel Insurance (per person) $129.

(3) Saturday 9/16/2008. Saturday Night Dances. New Format (begins August 2008)

The dance goes from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with a lesson from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Recorded/DJ Music.
