Highlights of Fall Quarter 2007 SBDC Activities
The Swing and Ballroom Dance Club was very active this past quarter. Here is a summary of some of our recent Fall Quarter 2007 activities and events (photos will be added in the future, when available).
- SBDC Dance Etiquette "Tip of the Week"
- As an ongoing feature, the Swing and Ballroom Dance Club publishes a weekly Dance Etiquette "Tip of the Week". Each week, we announce the etiquette tip, and then it is posted on the SBDC Web Site.
SBDC Weekly Basics I Lesson Schedule
As another continuing feature, the SBDC Weekly Basics I Lesson Schedule is posted on the SBDC Web Site. For Fall Quarter, we provided our members with a wide range of dance subjects. SBDC club members are able to find the dance topics of interest from the schedule, and plan in advance to attend those lessons. All lessons are supervised or conducted by the SBDC club officers.
Spring Quarter Major Dance, Workshop, and Theme Nights!
The SBDC held a specialty LINDY HOP Workshop on Saturday, December 1st, 2007. This featured our Special Guest Instructors, Rob and Diane Van Haaren They taught Lindy Hop and Charleston, and we followed this up with a Swing Dance (DJ music). This event was co-sponsored by the OSL After Dark Program.
The SBDC also held our 2nd Annual Dance Cruise!
The 7-day SBDC Dance Cruise took place December 16 – 23, 2007, aboard the Carnival “Pride”. We had 25 cruise/dancers who attended. With stops in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas, we held 3 mornings/afternoons of dance instruction. In the evenings, we danced to the ship’s 4-piece band. They played a wide variety of music for us, including swing, salsa, waltz, tango, cha-cha, and more. Everyone had a great time. We plan to put on a 3rd Annual Cruise NEXT December, 2008, with an even more exotic destination: Acapulco, Mexico
