Highlights of Spring Quarter 2005 SBDC Activities

The Swing and Ballroom Dance Club was very active this past quarter. Here is a summary of some of our recent Spring Quarter 2005 activities and events (photos will be added in the future, when available).

SBDC Dance Etiquette "Tip of the Week"
As an ongoing feature, the Swing and Ballroom Dance Club publishes a weekly Dance Etiquette "Tip of the Week". Each week, we announce the etiquette tip, and then it is posted on the SBDC Web Site.

SBDC Weekly Basics I Lesson Schedule
As another continuing feature, the SBDC Weekly Basics I Lesson Schedule is posted on the SBDC Web Site. For Spring Quarter, we concentrated more on the Basics classes that our members requested. SBDC club members are able to find the dance topics of interest from the schedule, and plan in advance to attend those lessons. All lessons are supervised or conducted by the SBDC club officers.

Spring Quarter Major Dance, Workshop, and Theme Nights!
The SBDC had a Special Lindy Hop Workshop this quarter featuring Lindy Hop Masters Rob and Diane Van Haaren. This was held on April 9th, in Robertson Gym, from 12:00 noon to 3:30 pm.

Our Spring Quarter Dance was a Special “Polynesian Luau” Dance Party on Saturday May 14th, featuring DJ Swing, Ballroom, and Latin Dance Music provided by the SBDC and Brian Gibson! We had a special performance by the UCSB Polynesian Dance Club! The Gym was decorated to look like the village from “Gilligan’s Island”.

For Spring Quarter, we held a "Country Western" Theme Night (Yee- Hah!) on Monday April 18th, and a “1970’s Disco”Theme Night on Monday May 23rd.
