Highlights of Winter Quarter 2006 SBDC Activities

The Swing and Ballroom Dance Club was really active this past quarter. Here is a summary of some of our recent Winter Quarter 2006 activities and events (photos will be added in the future, when available).

SBDC Dance Etiquette "Tip of the Week"
As an ongoing feature, the Swing and Ballroom Dance Club publishes a weekly Dance Etiquette "Tip of the Week". Each week, we announce the etiquette tip, and then it is posted on the SBDC Web Site.

SBDC Weekly Basics I Lesson Schedule
As another continuing feature, the SBDC Weekly Basics I Lesson Schedule is posted on the SBDC Web Site. For Winter Quarter, we provided our members with a wide range of dance subjects. SBDC club members are able to find the dance topics of interest from the schedule, and plan in advance to attend those lessons. All lessons are supervised or conducted by the SBDC club officers.

Winter Quarter Major Dance, Workshop, and Theme Nights!
The SBDC held our "A Decades Dance" on Saturday, February 25th. It was a special evening as we decorated the Robertson Gym in scenes from each of these decades from the 20th Century, 1920’s, 1930’s, 1940’s, 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s. Something for everyone! The refreshments were 1950’s style, including our famous “Self-Service Ice-Cream Soda Bar”. We had music to dance to from each of the decades!

The SBDC held a specialty “Dance Techniques” Workshop on Saturday, March 4th. This featured our very own dance stylist, Anna Hernandez.
For Winter Quarter, we held a Country/Western Theme Night on January 30th, and a Masquerade Theme Night on March 13th.

The SBDC Swing Show Team premiered its choreographed Lindy Hop / Charleston number “The Lindy Chorus” at the SBDC Decades Dance in February. More performance opportunities are expected in Spring Quarter.
