Instructions
To ensure the speed and efficiency of our application process for both the fund and the applicant, two separate protocols have been created:
Minor Funding Protocol ($500 and under):
Now try our new Online Minor Funding Application!
This protocol is designed for the funding of projects up to $500. For applications seeking up to $500, funding can occur after the approval by the Board of Directors during any regularly scheduled meeting. For applications seeking up to $100, the staff of the Shoreline Preservation Fund has the authority to immediately approve the funding. Individual projects can only request funding once per academic quarter. The approved funds are only active until the end of the following academic quarter, unless a renewal is filed with the Shoreline Preservation Fund. The required information for this protocol include the "Minor Funding Application" and any other relevant information that can be submitted. Applications for minor funding are due one week before the desired public meeting in which the application will be considered.
Major Funding Protocol (Over $500):
This protocol is designed for the funding of projects over $500. The instructions and requirements for the application are outlined in the document "SPF Major Funding Application." Applications may take an entire academic quarter to be reviewed and decided upon. Applications for major funding are due the friday of the first week of the academic quarter. Please refer to our calendar for exact dates. Applicants are required to present their project to our Board of Directors at a public meeting. A meeting with SPF staff before the presentation is also advised.
Emergency Funding
The Emergency Funding Protocol is intended to respond to projects that need immediate financial assistance. The situation must be one of extraordinary circumstances that could not be foreseen by the organization. We do not consider poor planning and management, cash flow problems, depletion of funds or insufficient fund-raising effort to be grounds for an emergency request. Permission must be granted by SPF staff for applications to be accepted. The application format will be the same as the major funding protocol. The timeframe of application review and granting will be determined on a case by case basis.
All documents are available through our office or this website. Depending on the nature of the project, applicants may also need to complete the natural areas application in order to notify the relevant land managers of the project nature. Applicants are furthermore encouraged to make an appointment with a SPF staff member to facilitate the application process.
Here is a list of potential projects that SPF may fund.
