ACTIVISM & POLITICS: "Coalition Building and Grassroots Organizing: What and How" The challenges of organizing around queer/lgbti issues, considering the diversity and range of political views, may seem insurmountable. We will be exploring how to conduct an effective grassroots movement that embraces diversity and differences rather than trying to create a queer "melting pot." Presenters: Emily Nalven currently works in the University of California Office of the President, but she has been a political activist since she was five. Throughout her life she has organized for workers’, women’s, and lgbt rights. Jonathan Winters is a former co-chair of the UCLGBTA and a co-founder of ACT UP East Bay.
