Session III: Saturday 3:45-4:45 pm
OURSELVES: "Magnetic Poetry: the Laws
of Attraction"
This activity aims to open discussion (primarily
among gay/bisexual/questioning men) regarding what we find attractive.
Many people consider attraction to be simply part of "the way we
are" while not acknowledging what "isms" may be at
play, especially at a mass media and social peer level. Participants
will be asked to make "forced choices" between one extreme
or another in terms of what qualities we would find attractive in a
potential mate. We will also discuss why we made certain choices and
what this could potentially mean for our community.
Presenter: Daniel K. Okamura is a senior sociology student at UCSB
who has been involved with the Queer Student Union and the on-campus
men’s discussion group.
Room: GSA Lounge
