OURSELVES: "Male Body Image in the Queer Community"

This workshop will be a discussion and exploration of body image as it relates to males in the queer community. Explore how gay males were/are perceived by society, and in gay male culture at various points, both pre- and post-Stonewall. Masculine and feminine stereotypes, gym culture, disco, drag, steroids, AIDS, and heroin/crystal-user chic will be discussed. We will also look at how this has shaped the perception of our "selves," self-esteem, destructive behavior, dating/relationships and sexual addiction.
