Session I: Saturday 9:00-10:30 am
ACTIVISM & POLITICS: "Writing for
Social Change"
This will be a writing workshop that sees writing
as a form of activism and calls on queers to raise their voices.
Recognizing the role of writing in building a movement for social
change, we will talk about writing as a weapon against invisibility and
spend time on writing about the issues that are urgent to us.
Presenters: Amy Sonnie is a queer/feminist/writer/editor/activist
committed to radical social change. She is editor of the queer youth
anthology Revolutionary Voices and is co-founder of RESYST—Queer
Youth Organizing for Radical Social Change. Diana Acevedo is a
mixed-race Latina working for LYRIC (Lavender Youth Recreation and
Information Center) and RESYST.
Room: UCen Lobero
