Session III: Saturday 3:45-4:45 pm
IDENTITIES: "You Don’t Know What You’ve
Got Until It’s Gone: Privilege, Gender and Feminism in the Tranny
Millennium"
In a time when privilege is bearing a great deal
of scrutiny, it is crucial that trans-identified persons mindfully
engage in discussion about the function of privilege within our own
lives. This workshop will initiate dialogue about how we can expand the
cultural notions of sex and gender without perpetuating the systems that
got us in this mess in the first place.
Presenters: Rahne Alexander is a trannyfemme writer,
web-producer and theorist from Santa Cruz. Ze also serves as secretary
for the UCSC-based CLUH (Challenging, Learning About and Undermining
Heterosexism). KC Bly is a UCSC graduate and the first Transgender
Programs Coordinator for UCSC’s GLBT Resource Center. Dylan Winn
Garner is a trannyboy, social psychology major from UCSC.
Room: Ucen Lobero
