Welcome
to the UCSB Bhakti Yoga Club!
What is Bhakti Yoga? There are many different branches of yoga and they generally complement each other since the goal of all yoga is the same. Yoga literally means to 'link' or 'connect'. So the purpose of all yogas is to become connected to the Absolute Truth. BHAKTI means devotion. Unlike hatha yoga, which is more of a physical process, bhakti yoga is a meditational system that uses chanting, singing, and acquiring knowledge of ancient philosophy in addition to devoting ones' practical everyday activities as a means to understand and develop a relationship with the Supreme Person. |

How can I learn more? The luncheon meetings give the club members an opportunity to come together and enjoy both a delicious vegetarian lunch and interesting conversation. Our email newsletter will keep you updated on any additions to the luncheon meetings. We also have weekly gatherings on Sunday @ 6pm where we participate in devotional Indian music, meditation, philosophical discussions, and free vegetarian fare. In addition, we occasionally have out-of-town guest speakers and will notify you of any special events by email. |
